AGEING IS A GIFT, HERE ARE SOME WONDERFUL WAYS TO EMBRACE THE PROCESS...

So often I hear the phrase 'Anti-ageing' and it grates me! Ageing is a natural process, it's happening to all of us all the time, so why are we fighting against it?
It's a personal preference. If it makes you happy to do things that help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, then absolutely go for it. But do it because it makes you feel good, not because you feel you have to.
“If it makes you happy to do things that help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, then absolutely go for it. But do it because it makes you feel good, not because you feel you have to.”
We are all unique, and the more we embrace this, the better. For instance, we all go grey at different stages in our lives. I got my first grey at the age of twelve! In my twenties I would dye my hair, but as the streaks of white got bigger, I gave up trying to hide it and embraced my natural hair colour.
I now regularly get stopped by people in the street complimenting my hair and asking if it's natural. So, my point is, if we embrace the process, perhaps good things will happen. Perhaps we'll begin to inspire other people to embrace their uniqueness too.
With the health and mobility issues that come with old age, surely we shouldn't add to the list of stresses by putting pressure on ourselves to look a certain way.
WRINKLES ARE BEAUTIFUL
Wrinkles are what make us beautiful, interesting and unique. They map out the stories of our lives; love, laughter, sorrow, worries and pain.

EMBRACE THE AGEING PROCESS
Ageing is a natural part of being alive, but in western culture we are encouraged to resist the process of aging and attempt to slow it down.
I am a firm believer that those of us who get to grow old are extremely fortunate to do so, and that ageing should be embraced and welcomed rather than resisted. We must learn to age well, by giving our bodies the best care possible and treating it with our deepest respect.
The rate of new skin cells starts to decrease as you age, the skin gradually loses its plumpness as the production of collagen and elastin decreases. This loss in elasticity results in fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the eyes and mouth.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with this!
Wrinkles are a natural and beautiful byproduct of the ageing process. What we want is to put our focus on being healthy, not trying to undo or prevent the natural ageing process.
When we take proper care of ourselves using a holistic approach: high quality natural skincare products, a balanced diet, proper hydration and good lifestyle habits; healthy glowing skin is an inevitable outcome.

The ageing process is fascinating! The more we understand it, the better we can cater to our skins needs over time...
During your 30s, skin becomes drier and more prone to broken capillaries (the tiny blood vessels in the skin) especially on the cheeks, skin around the eyes becomes more delicate. The maintaining a healthy diet is essential at this age and will deliver vital nutrients to the skin. This is a good age to start using regular face masks to help keep the skin supple.
The lymphatic system is a network of vessels, tissues, and organs that help eliminate toxins from the body.
During your 40s, the lymphatic system becomes less efficient, making the elimination of toxins more difficult for the body. Lymphatic drainage slows down, causing puffiness around the eyes and cheeks. Sun damage can contribute to blotchiness, red spots and discolouration of the skin. Loss of elastin causes lines and wrinkles to deepen. Staying hydrated will help to aid the removal of toxins from the body, be sure to incorporate regular massage into your skincare routine at this age to aid lymphatic flow.
During your 50s, areas of pigmentation, known as age spots or liver spots may appear on the face, arms and hands. Skin cells have 30% less moisture; causing skin to become drier, thinner, and tighter. As the skin looses elasticity, skin of the eyelids can become hooded and crepey with fine wrinkles. Hormone levels drop causing oil production to slow down, along with slower cell renewal, resulting in drier skin. Staying hydrated and using a rich moisturising product will help retain moisture in the skin at this age
During your 60s the fascia (the connective tissue between skin and bones) begins to deteriorate, causing skin to lose tone. Skin circulation slows down so skin can appear dull. Wrinkles are more apparent and lips become thinner. Regular facial treatments will be very beneficial for this age group, hydration and a healthy diet will also be beneficial.
Wherever you are age wise, having a consistent daily skincare routine will help support your skin, keeping it healthy and supple.
